Advent and Christmas in Tirol

Advent is a special time of year in Tirol. Many traditions long forgotten in other places are still celebrated here. These range from the "Anklöpfler", groups of men who visit houses in their neighbourhood to sing Christmas carols, to the arrival of the "Christ child" bringing presents for children. Tirol is a place where Christmas has preserved its true meaning.

Traditional Christmas melodies that awaken childhood memories and culinary delicacies that taste especially good out in the cold are just some of the highlights that await visitors to Tirol as the year draws to a close. Several regions have joined together to form "Advent in Tirol" and invite you to visit Achensee, Hall in Tirol, Innsbruck, Kufstein, Rattenberg, Schwaz, Seefeld and St. Johann in Tirol. To be part of Advent in Tirol each place must meet the highest quality criteria when it comes to decorations but also the diverse range of events such as live music and other traditional highlights. A fantastic setting for strolling through the Christmas markets and enjoying the special atmosphere at this time of year.
